Play

We love to play outdoors. H2O is our favourite element, in different forms: as water (for swimming, diving or being in a canoe), as snow (for x-country skiing) or as ice to skate on. The skis are stored away and we got the canoe out for a trips the lakes and rivers. Weather has been very nice so far and we and have been joining all kind of summer activities.

Fort McKay Treaty Days

We dipped into more First Nations Culture in the weekend of 19 June at Fort McKay, the last settlement on road 63 to the North. The people there celebrated the Treaty Days. Back in 1871 - 1921 Indians signed 11 treaties with the Canadian Government to define Aboriginal rights. First Nations people interpreted agreements covered in Treay nr 8 to last "as long as the sun shines, grass grows and rivers flow.

Canada Day

And then came Canada Day. The occasion marks the anniversary of the July 1, 1867 Constitution Act which united two British colonies and a province of the Britisch Empire into a single country called Canada. Every year it is celebrated with a parade. The walking group joined in to promote the Run for the Cure (Cancer Society).

Walk for Life

More walking during the Walk for Life, a nightly spectacle to raise money for the cancer research. We started at 7 pm and it ended at 7 am and we walked the night away.
